My 20+ favourite product launches in August 2021
I really like product launches and I always get inspired when looking at all sorts of product launches to derive experiences for the products I am currently working on. I actually think competitor research and staying up to date with the newest developments or trends in the product space is an important aspect in the work of a product manager.
Recently, I started to do this in a more structured way and created some lists with the product launches that were particularly inspiring for me for various reasons. I think the ideas and comments about the launches I describe can also be inspiring for everyone else and thus I might just share this list and maybe even create some discussions around it.
Have a look at the July 2021 Edition, too!
The products here are in no particular order. However, if you are interested in the categorised Airtable list that can be sorted and copied, I am happy to share this with you. However, as I am building an audience it would be great if you could also follow me on LinkedIn and Medium in order to support me in exchange ;-).
1. Growth Kit
Find the top 1% of tools and resources that can help you build and grow your startup, small business, or solopreneur career!
Nicely curated toolbox with a lot of innovative tools you can have a look at to add to your stack. I really like that there are sponsored posts as well as a pro version to monetise the content.
2. Picmaker
Picmaker 2.0 is the shortest way to design anything. Be it ads, presentations, memes or social posts — if you need design inspiration, come to us. But, why are we special? Our AI-based MAD Button gives you unique design combinations in minutes. Give it a try!
Nice competition to Canva especially because of the MAD button that can create nice combinations of different designs to facilitate and speed up design decisions.
3. Wicked Backgrounds
Wicked Backgrounds is a free web app for generating nice wave gradients that you can use for your designs.
I always struggle to create nice backgrounds and you need them for so many things. Especially for social media posts it always looks better to have some gradients or additional elements in your background. This tool can help out here.
4. Hyperbeam
Hyperbeam is a shared browsing site that lets you surf the web and watch TV shows and movies together with the people you care about while apart. Free to use (with optional Premium). No download necessary.
The rebranding of Tutturu uses many nice elements which are fully relevant for a tool that allows you to watch things together online. Sometimes you would really like to watch stuff together with people that are far away. This tool allows you to do it.
5. PH Launches
PH Launches feature stories of Indie Hackers and creator who have launched their projects on Product Hunt. This curated database features hundreds of case studies sourced from blogs, social media accounts and online communities.
Super nice idea to curate the PH launches in that way. Product Hunt and other platforms become more and more relevant in early stage awareness strategies. Makes total sense to collect some case studies around this.
6. Removaly
It’s crazy how much of your sensitive personal information is floating around the internet for anyone to find…
So we created a software that finds and removes this information, then scans DAILY to make sure your information stays off of the internet.
Tools that protect privacy and remove personal information are important and will become more and more important in the future. Removaly can help you take care of information about you that you do not want to float around in the web.
7. Figen
Free post cover & background generator tool for any purpose.
Another background tool that can help you to spice up your social media posts a little bit.
8. AI Writer Chrome Extension
Use the world’s most advanced AI to write for you. Blog content, landing pages, ad copy, and so much more.
A nice alternative to grammarly that helps a lot with creating content.
9. New Tetrisly 1.5
Tetrisly is one of the most organised starter kits to create the design system’s UI component library in Figma. Trusted by 2000+ designers and teams.
Design Systems are hard to create from scratch but you need them to work on your personal and company brand for sure. Tetrisly helps you do this with their Figma framework.
10. 100ms Video SDK
Add live video conferencing to your app in 10x less lines of application code than any other fully customisable video SDK.
Nice tool to facilitate embedding video into your application.
11. Value Added
Collection of most Valuable tweet, twitter thread, blogs, articles and other stuffs. Various topics and creators/communities to discover. From Psychology to Business, from Life to Writings. Single Tweets or Twitter Threads that worth saving. All in one place.
Very nice curation of tweets that you can use as inspiration. I also like the lean way of using a notion page to display the content.
12. PictureHum
PictureHum is a marketplace that connects families with family photographers. Photographers can be searched by location and price. Lightly edited digital images are delivered within 5 days. Photographers set their own prices.
A marketplace like this is so nice. I have the feeling that getting a good photographer for a reasonable price is still really hard. Tools like this can help to facilitate this.
13. Genomelink 2.0
If you got DNA tested from companies like 23andMe/AncestryDNA, you can transfer your DNA data to Genomelink and unlock hundreds of apps.
I think this is very interesting. I also believe that you can do a lot more with the data that you already got from DNA testing tools. I wonder if 23andMe or Ancestry do not want to buy up an “enrichment” tool like this.
14. 60 Leaders on Innovation
We asked some of the best across the globe — CxOs, academics, technologists, innovation leaders, entrepreneurs, and start-up founders — to answer a fixed set of challenging questions on innovation. ’60 LEADERS ON INNOVATION’ presents their unique perspectives.
Very nice insights and ideas. An easy way to make content about a certain topic by just asking known people to talk about a certain aspect.
15. the:gist
Build simpler & more elegant automations; less steps & complexity than with other automation tools.
Very interesting, considering that Notion just bought automate.io. I think the automations and workflows will play a way bigger role for Notion especially in their 2022 strategy. Nice to see tools that already recognised this actually.
16. Startup Fundraising Playbook
The Startup Fundraising Playbook bundles fundraising trends, bias, and do’s and don’ts in early-stage fundraising into a guide for founders raising capital from Pre-Seed to Series A. Dig into these insights and research to optimise your process & VC outreach.
Always good to get some additional resources on fundraising and startups. Especially the differences in fundraising stages are nicely illustrated.
17. NoteLedge
NoteLedge is the best note-taking app for creatives and designers. It comes with powerful creative tools for you to quickly capture ideas from Pinterest and web pages, organise everything in one place, and make sketches to start your own design right away!
There is still no real established tool to make mood boards and create design inspirations. NoteLedge goes into an interesting direction there. Interesting for all people that work a lot with designs that need inspiration.
18. Heep
Heep is a network of rising no-code talent sourced from around the globe. It helps power users of no-code tools monetise their expertise by creating a portfolio and connecting with customers looking for help.
I really really love this idea. I always think that the tools and especially the no code tools require more and more expertise which does not mean basic coding but rather just experience with handling the tool. This goes especially for tools like bubble or Webflow but you also have an advantage when working with tools like Softr and Glide before.
19. Illustrations by Iconfinder
The go-to resource for high-quality illustrations that will bring life to your landing pages, apps, presentations or documents. Choose from large style packs. Edit colours to match your brand. Download in SVG or PNG formats. The price is $5 per illustration.
Great resource for nice illustrations.
20. Ocoya 2.0
A truly all-in-one platform for content marketing.
This is a really nice combination relevant for content marketing in particular. I think there are still some shortcomings in all existing tools and I wonder how the established tools will develop.
21. Careerist
Job applications automation and mentoring for job seekers.
Tools and services like this are so helpful. Especially for non-US countries it is important to get a lot more information and coaching about the existing US market and hiring possibilities.
22. CVShine
Craft a great CV based on the professionals’ feedback and open the door to new job opportunities.
This is also something that you usually do with your friends. I think it makes a lot of sense to actually let some professionals check your CV.
I hope you enjoyed this compilation. If you are interested in receiving my Airtable list containing all those products with preview, additional comments and sortable categories just follow me on LinkedIn and Medium.
